What’s the longest putt you’ve ever made?

A couple weeks ago, Nick Taylor sank a 72-foot eagle putt on the fourth playoff hole of the 2023 RBC Canadian Open to defeat Tommy Fleetwood and become the first Canadian in 69 years to win his national open. It was also the longest putt he has ever made during his PGA Tour career.

This had us wondering. What have been the longest putts made in PGA Tour history?

Craig Barlow holds the PGA Tour record for longest putt made in a tour event. In the fourth round of the 2008 Buick Open, Barlow sank a 111-foot eagle putt on the first hole. The funny thing about his putt is that he used his lob wedge instead of a putter. Did you know that technically any shot from the green is classified as a “putt” even if a putter is not used? On the other hand, a ball that is putted from off the green doesn’t count as a putt. Glad we cleared that up.

Next on the list are Jack Nicklaus and Nick Price, who have both been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest putts ever made in professional golf.

In the 1964 Tournament of Champions at Desert Inn, Jack Nicklaus made a 110-foot putt.

In the 1992 PGA Championship at Bellerive, Nick Price also holed a 110-foot putt.

Angel Cabrera, Ben Curtis, Alex Cejka, Chad Campbell, and Bryson DeChambeau, also make the list of some of the longest putts in golf history.

The longest putt Tiger Woods ever made during competition was measured at just over 91 feet during the 2014 WGC-Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral. He drained the putt on the par 3 4th hole. Unfortunately, he later withdrew from the event due to injury.

So far in 2023, the longest putt made on the PGA Tour was 100' 3" by Harris English at the WM Phoenix Open on hole #6 during the second round.

We would be remiss if we didn’t tell you about the unbelievable 159-foot eagle putt made by a 26-handicap amateur at the 2012 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at Kingsbarns. The amateur who accomplished this remarkable feat was Michael Phelps, the most accomplished Olympian of all time. Maybe he should give golf a shot now that he’s retired from swimming.
