Ernie Els has been part of the Bloodline family since he first played the original R1-J blade putter in mid-2017 and became our first ambassador and high-profile investor in 2018. His birthday is next week, and we’d like to honor his achievements both on and off the course. 

Ernie, affectionately known as "The Big Easy," has etched his name into the annals of golf history with his exceptional talent and unwavering sportsmanship. His accomplishments extend far beyond the golf course, making him a beloved figure in the world of sports and philanthropy.

A Stellar Golf Career

Ernie's golfing prowess is undeniable. He is a former World No.1 with 79 professional victories to his name, including four Major Championships, two World Golf Championships and a record seven World Matchplay titles.

His consistent performances and effortless swing have earned him admiration from fans and fellow professionals alike. Beyond his Major victories, Ernie has also achieved numerous other significant wins throughout his career, solidifying his status as one of the greatest golfers of his generation.

A Champion of Philanthropy

Off the golf course, Ernie has demonstrated a deep commitment to giving back to his community. He founded the Ernie Els Foundation (EEF) was in 1999 with the purpose of identifying and assisting young talented individuals, in golf, predominantly from families of limited resources and to deliver to them educational assistance and playing opportunities in order to produce successful young leaders and develop their playing ability to its full potential.

Ernie and his wife Liezl founded The Els for Autism Foundation in 2009, which led to the opening of The Els Center of Excellence, a world-class site hosting leading-edge programs and services for individuals with autism.

In 2011, he also started The Golf Challenge, a series of charity-driven amateur golf tournaments played every year at top-rated courses across the US and Canada in order to raise funds for Els for Autism. Since the event’s inception, over 21,000 rounds of golf have been played and the fundraising total now stands at a staggering $37 million.

Ernie’s increasingly diverse range of business interests successfully encompass golf course design and hospitality, an award-winning wine portfolio created by Ernie Els Wines in South Africa, an innovative range of pet products and a biltong company.
