Gain Confidence in Your Putting with this Trust Drill

If you watched the U.S. Open this year, you saw Rory McIlroy lose the tournament in the last four holes. What happened? He missed several putts and ended up in second place behind Bryson DeChambeau. This seems to be a pattern with McIlroy over the past decade and it’s a frustrating one. Has this happened to you? You’re winning your match and suddenly in the last few holes, you can’t sink a putt.

One thing that helps with this is to practice increasing your confidence in your putting.

Today, Larry Bischmann, Bloodline Co-Founder, is bringing you an easy little practice drill that will help increase your confidence on the putting green.

Over the years, we’ve observed that most people are comfortable making putts inside the leather, which is about 3-feet from the hole. Practicing putts from your comfort zone and gradually increasing to longer distances will help you develop your confidence and make more putts.

When using Bloodline technology, you can begin to increase your distances and hit the putts directly on the line that you want, with more confidence. This will give you a better chance of holing more putts under 10 feet.

To start the drill, set up a putt that’s about 3-feet from the hole, or whatever distance is in your comfort zone. Step back behind your Bloodline putter and make sure you’re lined up properly, then step over the ball again and make a confident stroke so the ball goes in with some pace.

Easy Drill

Start out with the ball about 3 feet away from the hole and make at least 3 putts in a row and then move the ball out about 1 foot and repeat the process. Continue this drill until you get to about 10 feet away from the hole.

Challenging Drill

Start out with the ball about 3 feet away from the hole and make at least 10 putts in a row and then move the ball out about 1 foot and repeat the process. Continue this drill until you get to about 10 feet away from the hole.

You can practice this drill with or without a Bloodline putter, but with the Bloodline technology, you know that your starting line is always on target and you can focus on making a solid putting stroke. When you have a longer putt, you can be more confident about your starting line and your ability to make the putt coming back.
